Pigeon Forge Mountain Resort is located in Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The town itself is small – only about 6,500 people live here, but travelers are interested in the wide range of recreational opportunities and the beauty of the surrounding area. It is also one of the famous centers of Southern culture and its indispensable attribute – country music. Pigeon Forge can be divided into several districts, each offering interesting attractions and entertainment.
Pigeon Forge Downtown
The central part of Pigeon Forge is all about fashionable hotels, supermarkets, and shopping. It is Downtown that is the most convenient place to stay for visitors – it is a much better starting point for most sightseeing trips and neighborhoods. Of course, living in the center will cost a bit more than in other areas, but the comfort is definitely worth it, especially for those who came here to relax with children.
Of the most interesting sights that you will want to visit in the center, we can mention the Oceanarium, a gift store in the Hill-Billy Village chalet and Smoky Mountain Candy Makers.
Old Mill District
The main attraction of the area is the building of the old mill, built in the late 18th century. It is located in Old Mill Square, named after it. The square retains the atmosphere of that era-almost all of the stores and establishments along its perimeter are reminiscent of the early settlers of Pigeon Forge. Lacking the garish signage and advertisements, a trip here becomes a journey into the city’s distant past.
Contemporary stores, restaurants, and gift shops occupy much of the rest of the neighborhood. It’s a shopping paradise for those who come not only to enjoy the history of the city, but also to fully soak up the southern flavor, to relax and shop.
Dollywood
Dollywood, the famous amusement park, is so huge that it could well be considered one of Pigeon Forge’s largest neighborhoods. It was created with the help of the famous country singer Dolly Parton. It has so many different activities for the whole family that you’ll probably have to stay in one of the local hotels for a few days. Dollywood is considered one of Tennessee’s most famous attractions – many families with children come to Pigeon Forge just to visit here.
Pigeon Forge Island
The most interesting tourist area of Pigeon Forge is what the locals call The Island. From attractions, stores, and restaurants to the original Pigeon Forge WonderWorks museum and the Goats on the Roof petting zoo, the spacious island offers all kinds of entertainment. But the most interesting place for families is the fun adventure park, where everyone can easily find entertainment to their liking.
